At Iowa, our rhinology fellowship isn’t as prestigious as Kennedy’s, Kuhn’s, or the C leveland fellowship, so sometimes we have an international fellow for a year.
For example, an international grad looking to go into otology may have little chance to get a House, Michigan, or Iowa fellowship, but there are a number of others out there that they might be able to get into, especially if they were looking to return to their home country to be the «specialist. Posting incorrect and callous messages like the one above makes international grads feel that US docs are arrogant and pretentious.

You will not operate during this fellowship. For awhile Miami Balkany’s fellowship was advertising itself as a fellowship designed to train international grads, but I amking they have since stopped doing that, at least in the last several years. The problem is that in order to operate you have to have a US license, and in most cases be board eligible for otolaryngology in the US meaning have done residency in OTO in the US.
Best bet is to contact programs directly, see if they’d be willing to host you for a research block or for PhD. Depends on what you are looking. The Academy website has a list of fellowships but not all of them may be listed. My studentdoctot. is also to scour the back of the major journals and see who is looking for fellows.

Especially from an unregistered person. You more then highly qualified to come and do a Fellowship in the US however they sturentdoctor. lay a lot of stones in your path. You only become Board eligible if you have been in a University Hospital set up for 10 years then you are eligible to sit for the American Boards. OR if you repeat your Residency in the US then you would be eligible as. We’ve been there and done it.
You can get all this info of the American Board website, but the detail with the University set up for 10 years they have taken down but if you call them and ask them it is still in effect and the Board will give it to you in writing.
Also having the Boards only rely makes a difference when you go into private practice as your Malpractice Insurance would be lower.
And of course there is some facilities or Institutions who would want you to have the Maoing Boards. If you are really committed to it, you may spend some time, even may be years, but if you really thing that what it is for you then do not give up. Write, call program directors not secretariesattand conferences to «shake hands» You know you should get in touch with Institutions who offer those kinda Fellowships at least a year prior, because all the Fellows are usualy already selected for July so studentdocror.
